OTESHA is recruiting and training young Tanzanians and women as community tree caretakers — paid professionals building Tanzania's green economy, one tree at a time.
What is a green job?
Green jobs are not charity work. They are how Tanzania grows its economy while growing its forests.
OTESHA caretakers are trained environmental workers. They visit assigned planting zones on scheduled field rounds, log tree health and growth measurements on the OTESHA mobile app, report mortality alerts, coordinate replanting, and protect zones from livestock and drought damage.
This is skilled work. Paid work. Work that builds a career pathway in environmental management, digital monitoring, and community leadership — and protects the water sources, farmland, and natural spaces that communities depend on every day.

Green Schools Programme

OTESHA's Green Schools Programme partners with primary and secondary schools across Tanzania to plant, GPS-register, and maintain trees within school compounds and surrounding community land. Each enrolled school receives a minimum of 200 trees, a student environmental club, a school caretaker training programme, and a digital tracking account so every student can follow their tree's growth over years.
